- There are no language problems for North Americans - English is understood and spoken everywhere.

Fast catamarans to the nearby island groups of Mamanuca and Yasawa are available and large inter-island ferries service the northern islands. Rental car companies can be found throughout Fiji, with a number of offices at the arrivals concourse including Budget and Hertz.

- Fiji Islands enjoys a sunny climate so be sure to bring some sunscreen, hat or cotton wrap to protect you from the sun. A t-shirt or lycra suit is advisable when snorkeling as time will pass quickly when you are mesmerised by the colourful reef and fish .. and it is easy to burn your back!
- There is no malaria in Fiji. However, mosquitoes can come out in the evening especially after a rain shower or during the more humid summer months. Simple mosquito repellent precaution will keep you comfortable.

- Fiji is predominantly Christian and traditional codes of modesty are preserved. Please respect this especially if passing through or visiting Fijian villages. Your resort or hotel will be pleased to advise on customs. There is no nude sunbathing. Skimpy attire is accepted by the pool and on the beach at your resort, but modest attire should be worn in public areas of Fiji. A sulu (sarong cotton wrap) is ideal for wrapping around as a skirt when visiting a village. These can be bought throughout Fiji at modest prices if you do not have one.
